The Collective of NGOs and Women’s Associations of Burundi (CAFOB) organized in Bujumbura from September 18 to 21, 2017, a briefing workshop and coordination of the program « contributing to the emergence of peaceful and committed communities in Burundi », for the of 6 psychologists and a project manager as well as training on assistance to assistants for 6 psychologists and 3 legal counselors newly recruited by CAFOB.

It should be noted that this program is implemented by CAFOB and its partners RCN Justice & Démocratie in collaboration with the Association of Catholic Jurists of Burundi (AJCB). This five-year program (2017-2021) is run in three provinces in Burundi, namely Bururi, Muramvya and Mwaro.

The ultimate objective of the reported activities was the empowerment of their beneficiaries on psychosocial assistance which takes into account the culture, family, community, experience, etc. to better assist women victims of violence; stress reduction techniques and assistance to psychosocial assistants.

The participants in this series of activities felt that the knowledge acquired would enable them to effectively assist women victims of violence, especially when filing their complaints with the justice system.
