Launch and popularization of the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Kampala Declaration on sexual and gender-based violence in the DRC

An official launching workshop of the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Kampala Declaration on sexual and gender-based violence followed by a press conference organized under the High Patronage of Her Excellency Chantal SAFOU LOPUSA Minister of Gender, Child and Family, in partnership with COCAFEM / GL at the Center Culturel Boboto, in Kinshasa on Thursday August 24, 2017 and Friday August 25, 2017 respectively.

photo-launch-2 On the occasion of this launch, the Minister of Gender, Children and Families thanked COCAFEM / GL whose technical and financial support from these partners, Global Affairs Canada and Swiss Cooperation, made it possible to development of this National Action Plan.

With regard to its appropriation and effective implementation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it automatically presented the following approach:

Advocate to the Prime Minister for a reminder at the next Council of Ministers on the need to implement this commitment by the Congolese Head of State to eradicate the scourge of sexual and gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo; Convocation of a meeting of the Steering Committee bringing together all the sectoral Ministries involved in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a view to the effective integration of the activities targeted by the new Action Plan into their activity work plans as well as their effective implementation; Adoption of an annual roadmap setting out priority actions along the lines of Prevention, Fight against impunity and Assistance to victims under the supervision of the National Agency for Combating Violence against Women and Young and Young Girls AVIFEM in acronym; Organization of a round table with technical and financial partners to mobilize funding for the implementation of this Action Plan.

It should be noted that around forty press houses made up of television and radio channels as well as the written press increased their presence during the 2nd day devoted to the Press Conference.
